SRCT offers occasional one-day school holiday camps for children ages 5-11, from 9a.m. until 4p.m. Cost per camp is only $75 for the full day.  New Fall camps will be posted this summer.

2010 Spring Break Camp
Where the Wild Things Are.
March 15-19
9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.
Ages 5-11

Spend Spring Break week on great adventures through imagination. Each day will focus on a new adventure and story, including the classic, Where the Wild Things Are. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite storybooks. Please pack two snacks and a lunch each day.

Creative Drama Camps for Ages 5 and up
Creative Drama Camps are designed to ignite the imagination; promote teamwork and aide in communication skills. Students help create stories, develop characters, learn theatre games and build self-confidence in an encouraging, playful environment. All camps culminate in a celebration/performance of stories and scenes developed in camp. Led by Austin’s top theatre professionals, we offer only the best to our campers.

Each week of summer camp has its own theme and includes arts and crafts, story-specific activities and more! Through storytelling, playing and character work, campers will create their own scripts – or add their own creativity to an existing fairytale. Perfect for every level of theatre experience – from beginning campers to more seasoned actors, everyone has a role in the far away kingdom of Scottish Rite Theatre.

Great Adventures in Shakespeare (Co-Camp with Austin Shakespeare)

Fairies, heroes, magical lands, shipwrecks! Join us as we explore some of Shakespeare’s most exciting adventures – from the woods near Athens to far away islands! Campers will learn about Shakespeare’s most famous plays, create magical characters and speak the speech – Shakespeare-style! Co-led by the Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre and Austin Shakespeare, this week-long camp is great for 5-13.

Superhero Squad

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a superhero? In this camp, we will create our own superheroes and develop superpowers! Campers will learn about character development, storytelling and work together to make a squad of awesome superheroes!

July 5-9
Myths and Legends

Ages 5-11

Castles, princesses, pirates, dragons – oh my! In Myth and Legends week, campers will learn about famous myths and develop their own unique legend based on characters they create throughout the week. Join us as we travel to the magic lands of the far away kingdom!

July 12-16
Fantastic Fables - Create your own adventure!

Ages 5-11

Everyone loves a fable. In this week, campers will learn about famous fables and fairy tales from Aesop to Anderson. What would happen if Jack and Jill decided not to go up the hill, but instead meet at Grandmother’s house? Was the Big, Bad Wolf framed? Campers will create develop twists on classics and develop their own fables.

July 19-23
Odyssey: The Demigod Files
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Ages 5-11

Campers will discover (if they haven't already) the exciting and demanding lives of demigods. Based around author Rick Riordan's best selling series, Percy Jackson: The Demi God Files campers are in for perilous adventures and heroic deeds.

Please pack a nutritious snack AND lunch for your camper each day.
